It's spider season and I've got the photos to prove it. I love spiders because they eat all the bad bugs. But if you have an aging dog with a bad back that you have to carry outside at two in the morning to go the the bathroom like I do then you become a bit less of a fan.
The one in the photo above has a body as big as a nickel and the creepiest thing about it is it lives in a tree in the day time and then floats down to its giant web to wait for its prey at night time...Right when my old dog toddles unsteadily out, inches away from its web. I stand there, waiting for her to pee, doing the spider dance--manically sweeping any real or imagined spider out of my hair and off my neck before it crawls down my shirt. But boy do I have a bug free garden!
